The Moolah 1.1 release is now available, giving you more options to define plan prices, the ability to create upgrade paths between plans, as well as other new features that you can use to promote your site. Let's take a look at the new features and how you will use them to sell premium content, digital goods, and online services on your website.
Moolah Advanced
Many of the new features discussed here are available in the Moolah Advanced Package, and are oriented to users who have more complex websites with stepped membership plans. We've also revised many features found in the Moolah Basic Package, and those using the previous 1.0 release can upgrade to version 1.1 for free. Please see the feature list for details about the various Moolah packages.
More Options for Plans
Plans are at the heart of Moolah. A user purchases a plan to create an account, and then uses that account to access site resources.
Moolah now lets you define separate prices for a new subscription, for renewing a subscription to the same plan, and for upgrading to a different plan in order to extend or replenish an account. You can specify the discount which is a value subtracted from the price of a site resource. A new feature found in our 1.1 release is threshold which, like the discount, is related to the resource's cost, except that if the cost of the resource is equal to or less than the threshold, then the user is not charged.
Plans are purchased by users who want access to your site.
For example, in Moolah 1.1 Advanced, you can define a Premium plan that gives a user 1000 credits with a discount of 2 and a threshold of 5. A subscriber to this plan can access any resource with a cost of 5 ( "Non-Premium" content, for example ) for free for the duration of their account. To access a higher-cost resource with a cost of 6, the user's account is debited only 4 credits.
Member Upgrades
Another new feature found in Moolah Advanced is the ability to define an upgrade path for upgrading from one plan to another. In addition to a unique price, you can define optional attributes that will take precedence of those in the plan.
Upgrade paths let you define custom prices and options when a user switches plans.
Creating specific upgrade paths is a great way to upsell users to a premium plan. For example, if some of your users are using your Standard Plan, and you would like to convert them to the Premium Plan, then create an upgrade path that offers these users a reduced cost or additional credits when they upgrade from the Standard to the Premium plan.
Promotional Coupons
Coupons are a great way of attracting people to your business, group, or service by offering people a reduced price or additional benefits when subscribing to a plan.
In addition to a reduced price, coupons can also offer additional credit, an extended membership duration, a higher discount on the cost of accessing a resource, or a modified threshold. You can choose to which plans, category of plans, plan types, or groups to which a coupon is available, as well as a range of dates when the coupon is available.
Coupons are a great tool to motivate people to join your site.
Unlike an Upgrade, the coupon attributes modify the original plan. A plan costing $100 for 1000 credits, when applied with a 20%-off coupon offering 250 additional credits, would create an account of 1250 credits for $80, which is a great value for your new subscriber!
Other New Features
There are other smaller changes that you can find in both the Moolah Basic and the Moolah Advanced packages. Moolah 1.1 will offer the option to use a conversion code for tracking conversions in Google Adwords. We've also revised the order interface to prompt the user for their first and last name, as well as giving them the option to resume an order that they have cancelled.
The Order Process now allows a user to resume an order later.
Something for Everyone
In summary, you'll find numerous new features and options that will help you sell premium content, digital products, and online services. The new 1.1 version is a substantial improvement over the previous version, and we encourage you to download a Trial Version and try Moolah for yourself.
